Jigsaw Activity

This jigsaw activity is designed as a cooperative learning activity where you will learn how to setup three types of networks. Each of you will become an expert in one network topology. You will teach other people about your network, and they will teach you about theirs.
  1. Allow for multiple user to share devices and data
  2. Faster transport than using an outdated method, such as SneakerNet (people wore sneakers when walking from computer to computer)
  3. Ease of managing or administer on multiple computers from central location


You begin counting from one to three to form three groups. Each group will complete a task for your group. Your number determines which expert group you are in. After, each home group has finished, return to the class. Then each expert group will teach the rest of the group on how to set up their type of network.

While completing the assignment answer the following questions:
  • What is it?
  • What hardware is needed?
  • What software is needed?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages?
